The 'works' TR7 rally car.

Due to North American legislation the TR7 design was, just put it mildly, a bit different compared to its predecessor the Triumph TR6.
Although ugly for many people, the TR7 was a very strong car. This was one of the reasons that British Leyland (BL) decided to return into the rally game. So the car was strong but therefore also overweighted. No way that this car could compete with his rivals such as Ford Escorts and Opels. To be competitive, the 'works' car needed more power and a good roadhandling.
