traction enhancers, bonus or bunk?

I was leafing through the latest MT magazine and noticed a brief mention
of some aerosol spray traction enhancers (Insta-Trak by Prestone and
Tyre-Grip by Triangle Associates) that supposedly last 20-50 miles on
snow, ice and dry pavement (YMMV).  Read about at www.motortrend.com, car
care-winter survival survival guide.  Anyone seen this kind of stuff in
the store?  Any of you ice racers ever use this stuff?
