tires for ST use

This may have been discussed earlier, I don't recall, but is there a 
concensus on which tire is better suited for both steet use and Street 
Touring/Street Tire autocrossing, especially in the smaller sizes, such as 
14 x 6 inch wheels?  Are Yoko AVS Intermediates on the exclusion list?  I 
need tires for my 95 ACR sedan that has been relegated to daily driver 
status. (no ac but cheap to drive)  Just in case the CP Mustang is broken, 
I may want to drive the old Dodge in ST...
