How about taking this leaf from our road racing brethern....
A spec car class (or maybe two, one FWD, one RWD)....
Add a shock claiming rule, to discourage the naughty ones from having revalves
done....
And add an affordable spec tire.
Start with a $4-5k car (say an early Miata), come up with a $1-$2k spec
package, and let er rip.
