Why is it not a fair comparison? Your comments are the very reasons that make
it a fair analogy. I do disagree that acrylic will outshine a properly done
custom paint job. Plus, sooner or later, you will need to paint it after
repairing cobweb cracks. Neither will you ever get a quality panel fit because
they're all designed undersize. There will always be excessive joint gap. All
of this and more add up to the look and feel of kit car quality of yesteryear.
Sitting on display in a new car showroom with comparably priced
Lincoln's/Mercury's, they looked pretty shabby in comparison.

Hey that was not fair! A Bricklin body can look as good as the owner wants
to make it. The uneven body surface can be fixed with elbow grease if it is
acrylic, and a good paint job if it is painted. Acrylic will outshine and
look better than paint if it is polished enough. The body fit is more
difficult, but with patience and persistence it is possible to make some
dramatic improvement, and get it pretty good most of the time. There are a
lot of very good looking Bricklins out there, and I only wish I could find
time to work on mine more.
