if he calls around, he'd be fortunate to find a good rebuildable one for 
under $50--the junk yard crowd in my neighborhood is starting to treat every 
pre-80 4bbl carb like it is a precious gem.  i've seen the model 4300 
carburetor on sale at ebay going for as little as $20!  ebay sellers may not 
know the year of their carb.  if this guy is aiming for 100% correctness, it 
would be in his favor to study correct pics and compare to pics on 
ebay--also paying attn to what is stamped on the tag.  if he and his local 
library still cannot access eBay, he'd probably be best served by hooking up 
with Ford publications, shops, swap meets, people, etc.  if he is looking 
for the easiest, rather than most correct way, then I'd agree with most 
others in edlebrock 600cfm.
