I have #756 (one owner) and the strut mounts did come from the factory. In
fact if one looks at the Bricklin dealer brochure they show the struts in
place, but the struts were deleted for production. It could be that in 75
they even deleted the mounts. Pugs

The lower strut balls on my car, #678, are in-board and on the front of the
birdcage.  I find it hard to believe that these struts were added when the
air doors were installed, as has been suggested, and not installed at the
factory.  The nuts are captive in a steel "box" that is spot welded to the
frame.  It looks pretty stock to me.  BTW, be careful if you unscrew the
lower ball from the nut in the box.  In my case, the nut is free floating
and not held in position.  When the time comes to re-attach the ball, I
expect some difficulty getting the nut back onto the stud.
