The Olds F-85 and Buick Special springs are very different. The
Buick ones are the same as the Buick 300. Olds springs taper to a very
small diameter at the top and use an unusually small diameter retainer.
My 1978 Big A engine parts book lists the Buick spring as Number VS
846. It shows several different small block Chevy springs for 265, 283,
and 327 engines. There is some variation, but a lot of similarities--see
summary below:
