Jim,

        I have always used a spare trans input shaft.  Any shaft from any
tranny that will bolt up will do--it doesn't have to be identical to your
exact tranny.  T 10, T 5, T 50,------etc.--probably any old Chevy
3-speed--definitely any 215 3-speed.
