Robert,
It has been a long time since I had a stock exhaust system, but I don't
think the stock system used a 3 bolt flange at the end of themanifold.
The header I bought came with a flange to weld to the exhaust pipe.
Good luck, and I think you are correct to go to the larger pipes.
