Tim,
Crinkle paint needs heat to do its thing. The part should be warm and keep
it heated until the paint crinkles. A hair dryer works OK but you have to
constantly move it around.
It's not all that easy to do as the paint gathers at every little crease and
where the holes of the gauges are there's a little valley where the paint
collects and it crinkles differently there because of the extra paint.
You must also put it on thick enough so it does crinkle.
Time and experimentation is what's needed.
BTW, the original paint isn't the same texture as the crinkle paint you can
buy.
I bought mine at an auto parts place. They usually carry it.
