This is a very popular donor vehicle for the 'Locost' homebuilt Lotus 7
crowd because of it's high power, relatively light weight and
aftermarket support for performance parts. Grass Roots Motorsports
currently has an ex-TRD car as a project vehicle.

Corollas are cars, not trucks. '88 and newer are FWD, and SR5 is
standard engine, not the high out put version like used in the MR2.
You want a 4AGE engine from an 84-87 Corolla GTS. Those years are RWD.
TRD believes that is one of the best engines ever built. Cast iron
block, and not too light like later engines that were built too close to
limits. They got 250 hp from 4AGEs in the Toyota Atlanic cars, normally
aspirated! 170hp in stock form with 5-valve heads, but only in other
countries, that wasn't sold here. Gives an idea of the potential though.
TRD has writeups on various stages of tune. I always wanted to put that
drivetrain in an 80-81 Toyota Starlet. That was a very small RWD 2-dr.
hatchback that was made for efficiency. An outfit if Fl. did a number of
those conversions. I just never bit the bullit! Scott "Toyota fan"

isn't the "Toyota Corolla 1988 SR5" a car? if it's the one i'm thinking
of,
it's a favorite of the "drifter" set as it is light and has rear wheel
drive.
or am i all wet and it is a truck?
