Dear SEROCers

Due to our club being featured in the January issue of Classic
Motorsports we've had a very nice response and have gotten to meet and
sign up several new members. Thanks to Bill MacDonald at CMS for the
article in the Jan. issue. It's on the news stands now. Please go out
and buy several copies like I did:-)

Road Atlanta, Mitty '06 is getting close and if you haven't made your
hotel arrangements, you'd best do it now. You may also camp at RA. Many
of our members camp. Below are several URLs for places to stay in the
area. A lot of us stay at the Hampton Inn, in Gainesville, GA.

The '06 Mitty is getting BIGGER every week. This is a " MUST DO"
weekend. More specials from CMS to come.
One of our new members Rex Birkmire from Orlando, FL is going to bring
his Silvia. How many of you have ever seen one, other than maybe a
picture? Rex, is die hard Datsun owner and is the founder of
www.nicoclub.com. He shared some Silvia info with me. As you may not
know the Silvia was built on the roadster chassis.

Brad: Yeah, the spl311 is very rare and it took a long time for me to
find one! I will be bringing the Silvia to The Walter Mitty for sure. I
just had it in Atlanta for the NOPI Nationals and it won first place in
the "Asian Classic" class.
I bought it out of Japan this year, from the original owner who is a
retired Nissan executive. It has 22, 000 original miles and it is all
original.
They only made 544 and all stayed in Japan except for roughly 40 that
went to Australia. Really neat story behind the creation of the car. As
far as the USA is concerned there is only 3. Les has the Hawaiian one
that is in real rough shape and there is a guy in Indy I tracked down
that has one of the ones that was a police car. I'd be glad to have you
spread the word about my Silvia coming to the Mitty. Good promo....

Rex also shared a great contact for those of in the Lakeland, FL area
and need some work done on your car.

I have one resource to add to your list. Bill Harvey, is in Lakeland,
Florida...has been a roadster guru for years...has a lot of them sitting
around with some parts....he does great work and is very honest. He is a
veteran Datsun Mechanic..as good as any in the USA...he has a 2000
autocross car that is the Florida state champion in the modified class.
He is not an Internet guy but he is very nice. His tel number is
863-688-1164.

Thanks for the great info Rex, I can't wait to see your Silvia.
I 'd like to welcome all our new members that have joined during this
past year. SEROC is now up to around 175 members.

See you at RA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brad
