Many thanks to all who responded with their experience on getting the most
out of the stroker motor. Lots of good advice and it seems I will have to
evaluate/experiment a little. I will say that this seems to be quite a
popular engine setup to go with. Made a few adjustments today (timing,
balancing the carbs, etc) and I am very impressed with the performance this
motor puts out - "striped ass ape" is a good analogy. Les at Classic
Datsun put it together with Ed Johnson so I guess I shouldn't be surprised
:-) Lots of help from many vendors of course helped make it possible -
Datsun Parts, Rallye, Sports Imports, Stan, Carl Jaeger, Gerardo, Gary
Boone, Z Therapy, and many other cool people from the list and Ebay.
Cruising around Laguna Beach (where Mercedes & BMWs outnumber Toyotas and
Hondas), I constantly hear "cool car!" which is definitely something to
smile about. This car will be going back to NC for my Dad who will no
doubt attain instant celebrity status in the quaint town of Asheville.
Planning to show the car at the upcoming Japanese Classic Car Show in Long
Beach so looking forward to meeting some of you there!
