I'm sure that you old roadsters know this stuff but....
1 - My passenger seat was rattling and annoying - I always thought that the
screws at the base were merely for adjusting the rake of the seat. But, if
you adjust the outboard screw for rake, you can adjust the inboard screw so
that it is 'pushing' against the bottom of the seat and so rattling stops.
2. Chrome - clean it up with whatever chrome cleaner you use, and then wax
it with black wax. The shine seems deeper, but more importantly the shine
stays a LOT longer and really beads when wet and repels even the most
calcified water - NO spots
