Timing, a vacuum leak,
bad bearing in the distributor, cam chain or main chain off a tooth, carb
problem.
 
I had a carb problem on my 1969 2k like that due to jets that were
too long, not correct for my carbs. I got them from Apple Hydraulic in New
England, corrected the problem with properly rebuilt carbs from ZTherapy, but
Jeff is a better choice, cheaper and at least as good, plus he'll help advise.
 
I set up my carbs at idle and then jacked the idle with the throttle lock up
to 3000 and readjusted mixture.
 
It now runs like a cat on fire. A bad
picture, but accurate. Awesome!

Autozone loans tools including
a timing light I believe. I think you need a
light for sure as it sounds like
it is running lean.
Hope the real experts chime in.
