Dashpot oil?  Seriously?  I would have sworn the dashpots were full, but on 
inspection both were very low.  Added ATF and now the car is running as well as 
it ever has.  Still have to have the distributer cranked all the way CCW, so I 
think there is still another problem.  At least it is driveable!
