     looking for a soft top for my low windshield 67 1600, I have the frame,
just need the top. Hoping for a lightly worn black one for not too much $$.

My
immediate guess is a faulty instrument VR.
The VR is a little can located by
the steering column under the dash.
It is a self interrupting thermal device
that feeds a reduced voltage to those instruments.
The dead giveaway it that
both instruments are faulty;-)
