Well, my friends,
I am still pursuing the deepened oil pan fiasco.  I've learned in retrospect 
to use two pans to make one deepened to eliminate one complete joint with its 
associated leak points.  I've learned that my welder has the patience of a 
saint as I return it time and again for pinholes.  I've learned that brazing 
in the baffle causes fresh pinhole leaks that cannot be fixed by brazing (by 
me).  At this point I am sending it to the powder coat guy to see if this 
process can close these small leaks.  Previous requests for information 
suggested this was an unknown path so we will all learn together.  Let's keep 
our fingers crossed...
