I think he must have cut his teeth on a ground up restoration of an MG. This
would have
equipped him with and taught him something about the inner mysteries of Lucas,
brought
confucion on the merits of Dot wotsit versus Dot hoojit brake fluid, embroiled
him in the
trials and errors of mineral vis a vis synthetic engine oil - and all before he
moved on
to a Triumph with a recalcitrant petrol injection system.
Perhaps this goes some way to explaining why the Indian built Herald and the
Indian Rover
SD1 (with a 4 cyl TR engine - sort of) were probably never sold outside the
Indian
sub-continent.
