Funny, but more true than not... especially if we're talking a little
perked-up wood alcohol. At some of the bigger Grand American events at
the track where I raced in Florida, all of them tipped a little
nitromethanol. Go to tech with just enough clean fuel to make weight and
then go back and fill with fuel with unnatural spirits in it. Everyone
looked the other way because everyone was doing it--if someone
challenged, they were sure to get caught themselves. But, on occasion, I
caught a glimpse through a wheelwell of headers so hot that they were
yellow-white and nearly translucent, if someone had used a bit too much.
