I'm doing some research on the actual paint colors that comprise US racing
colors of blue and white. One fun item I came across was a hot debate about
the actual colors used on the Gulf Team Ford GT-40's and later Porshe 917's.
The body of thought was that Triumph Powder Blue and Marigold were the
actual colors used! So if anyone asks, what does it take to make GT car
really fast?? The answer is Triumph paint!

BTW, my search is not going well for the US racing colors. The Cobra group
claims Ford Guardsman Blue and Wimbledon White. The Cunningham crowd is
claiming a non-metallic dark blue and white from the early 50's GM paint
group. US colors seem to have started as blue stripes over white and
somewhere along the way reversed to white over blue (Gurney-Eagle F1 car,
Cobras, GT-40's). Very little info seems to exist on the net. National
racing colors were never apparently defined by the FIA.

This is almost as much fun as trying to determine the definitive mix for
British Racing Green...
