Thanks to everyone that replied. There are multlipe solutions to this
plumbing problem. Using 1 1/4 inch copper tubing is one solution. I
also found hoses that would work in a Gates book at the auto parts
store. There was a 1 3/8 x 1 1/2 hose that could be cut in half to give
the reducing 90 degree hose that I need. I also found 1 3/8 in tubing
in the Aircraft Spruce catalog. Dean Tetterton also suggested using a
TR6 water outlet, which points to the side. I don't know how you would
install a thermostat with TR6 outlet though. With the TR3 there is also
the issue of filling. There is a neat combination water outlet/filler
neck for Chevys, but they don't appear to bolt on our TRs. There are
inline filler necks available, but that would put the filler pretty low.
I'm thinking of filling through a firewall mounted expansion tank,
which I will connect to the heater take off and return points. Comments
and suggestions are welcome.
