Nearly perfect weather on Saturday & Sunday.

Event Chairperson, Shirley Murray put on a good show and included a tour of
the "old course" and lunch in historic downtown Elkhart.

Tony and Jack kicked butt and would have had a 1-2 class finish except Tony
had his throttle linkage come adrift two turns from the Finish Line!

In fact in would have been a Tony, Jack, & Joe 1-2-3 class finish, like at
Mosport, if Tony had not lost contact with his carbs.

For my part, I made a bonzai run up the middle at the start, passing up to
six faster qualifiers by the first turn. This was fun for me, and it took three
of them nearly the whole race to get by me again, and one of them nipped me at
the Checkered Flag. (This steroid laden Sprite was likely quite happy as #197
TR4 was a bit wider than spec from time to time)

Son Sean ran the Enduro on Saturday, lost an oil cooler on our #197, bypassed
it in the paddock, and went back out to finish.

Jim Hill (TR6) ran fast and smooth until overheating brought him in during
the feature. Head gasket?

Tom Strange (Spitfire) and John Reed (GT6) will have to share their
experiences, but they must have done well.

Weshatko (TR6) let the press of business become his priority and he was a "no
show".

Bob Wismer and Bill Dentinger ran flawlessly in their TR4 and Thunderbolt,
except Bill reports he is still having fuel handling problems at 5200-5400 RPM.
All three engine mounting points are hard mounted....hmmm, could
chassis/engine harmonics disturb the gas in the float bowls?)

Anyway we had a celebration of family & friends and three birthdays during a
Wine & Cheese Fete, after the track went cold. Music and burnt animal
offerings followed in Thicko Village. One of our group, Tom Chandler, assembled
his
sax and joined in with the Thicktones.

The Bill Ames Memorial plaque (Builder of Peyote & Ambro(s) was passed to
Ernie Husmann. FoT Dentinger, Effinger, Harkness, are prior worthy
recipients, which places Ernie in good company.

I hope we can all do this again next year.
