This is preliminary information. I confirmed the existence of two partially
dismantled Spitfires and one TR3A with front corner hit.
In Iowa, eight miles from any town, these were deposited in a farm based car
salvage operation.
Owner doesnt know a Spitfire from a TR6.
Owner wants to get them out of there. One Spitfire frame was restored (would
need to be repainted, at least) and there is two engines. One with two carbs
and one with one carb. Bodies and body parts are there, but difficult to see in
the weeds.
If some Spitfire guy out there has an interest in the Spitfires (I dont) I
would try to negotiate low dollar and take the TR3A.
I dont want to spend a lot of time on this, but if someone had a burning need
for a good frame or an engine.......I have all of the TR3A parts I want, but
would likely save this one from a crusher or e-Bay if I could get it for $100.
I might be able to take closer look next week.....any needs out there?
I am off to Champ Car Races....this weekend.
