To save considerable amounts of money, look for a hotel in Marina (15 minutes
to Laguna Seca, five minutes to Concorso Italiano and ten minutes from
Monterey). Super 8 motel is a good bet, but there are several hotels at that
intersection (Reservation Road and route 1). For a VERY nice carguy-friendly
place,
check out Martine Inn in Pacific Grove, owned by MG racer Don Martine who has
several of his vintage MGs on display at the B&B -- when you call, tell them
you're a vintage racing fan. In the past, Don has had a policy of approving all
reservations for that weekend, but unlike the other places, he doesn't raise
his rates for the weekend, and the Martine Inn is a great place to stay any
time of the year. Walking distance to the Aquarium, overlooking the bay, and
the
Thursday Pebble Beach Concours tour goes right under the dining room windows.
