I did a little research tonight on tires. Where I come from, we use 1972 SCCA
rules, and we have a waiver to allow 15" wheeled cars to run 50 series due to
a lack of tires. The Porsche and 240Z guys pushed that rule into place and
since I'm on the track with them I've considered using 205-50-15 (too short
for the gears), always thinking that the 225-50-15 were too wide for the
wheelwells. When they were available ran the 008rs with great success. It
looks like the Hoosier Street TD is very close in size, and it cost less than
the 5.50-15's. The tread width is much less than other 225-50-15's like
Victoracers @ 8.6", 032R's @ 8.3", Dunlop @ 8.5". I know these are considered
to be excellent race tires and unless I'm missing something, they may be the
ideal choice for my situation. Anyone using these?
