Tires:  Depends on what type of racing....I'd say for current SCCA production 
car racing your choices are Hoosier and Goodyear.  Rocky was right Hooosier 
seems to care about the club guys.  Some notes I've seen from testing are 
this - Goodyear will give the faster lap but fall off quicker after that fast 
lap.  Hoosiers are great cold (good for the first corner) and stay consistent 
for the whole race...I typically get my fastest laps at the end.  Wear seems 
to be good in either case.  If you go with Goodyears, R430 is compound, 
Hoosiers if R45...not sure who to go through out here.  you can have them put 
on at the track but typically you need to call ahead to make sure they have 
your size there.

Header - Stahl www.stahlheaders.com  some other will custom make one, if you'd 
like that option let me know and I'll get you in touch with them.


Tuning and prep - the FOT list, Kastners books, guys at the track.

Best engine to prep - that depends what do the rules allow...G-prod cars 
usually use 1147 some cylinder heads are better than others.  If you're going 
with a 1296 the small crank is the better motor, but again check your rules, 
SCCA splits the cars on their spec lines, run a square tail with a 1296 and 
you have to use the big bearing.  1500, I personally think is a good 
motor...some other think so as well, if you can use a billet crank and forged 
rods DO IT!
