What's the preferred technique for applying Red to bolt threads?

OK, as has been said, Loctite is out for big-end fasteners, the tensile load
is what locks it down. This tensile load depends on proper torque with
proper lube. Some specs are for clean dry threads, some lightly oiled, some
with
bolt lube. The lube will increase effective torque 10-35+%. In other words if
you torque a fastener to spec @ 50 lbs/ft with oil lube, the same fastener @
50 lbs with ARP or some other super-slippery moly whatever, you might really
have 65-70 lbs on it, way over-torqued. All aftermarket fastener manufacturers
will have recommended torque values, most standard applications are for
oiled threads. Under the head needs lube also.
If BE bolts loosen, they either weren't torqued properly or the tensile load
capability has been exceeded. Once the cap has shifted and/or gone oval,
it's all over, threadlocker is a moot point...

Happy & safe Holidays to all!

Glen
