Snow piles up on the gray and grimy streets, bitter cold under too few
glimpses of a tired and anemic sun, a typical winter here in the Salt
Lake valley. Must be time for the annual Fat Chance Garage Beach Party!
So turn your thoughts toward warm Pacific breezes gently wafting over white
sand beaches, lazy days in a hammock with a festive tequila concoction
close to hand, nibbling on fresh tortillas filled with shrimp, crab and
other gifts from the Sea of Cortez, spiced with zesty flavors of the Baja
peninsula.
Yes, the Beach Party is coming up, Saturday, February 24th. An evening
of fun and frolic, good food and friends. Dust off that sombrero and those
sandals, or maybe just pick up some tacky, shapeless floral garment at the
nearest DI.
If so inclined, bring along a potluck dish to share, of Mexican influence
or not, beverages for you and the kids to your liking. If the weather is
suitable, there will be a pile of slow-smoked pulled pork along with various
taco, burrito, etc. fixins' on hand.
