What a great collection of videos.

Did you notice the F-15 do a roll through the tops of a cloud deck? In
practicing to roll the north pole in 1980, (just in case it was overcast
when I got there), I rolled my Mooney in solid IMC. That plane is very slow
on the ailerons. As I remember it takes 9 second to the right and 11 to the
left to complete a full roll. The plane is also very short coupled so at the
inverted point you push the nose over a little bit. But the only way you
know your inverted is by timing the roll.

Pat Epps and I ended up taking his Bonanza which rolls almost twice as fast
as the Mooney. Piece of cake. Gordon Baxter (Bax Seat) did a little story on
in in Flying magazine. And that was the extent of attention for an otherwise
unknown little adventure. The First Pilots to Roll The Pole. Anybody know
what the magnetic compass does inverted, positive G's directly over the
magnetic North Pole?

Thanks for sharing the youtube connection.

Richard
