Once we established camp in the paddock, Ned (Sparrow) and I headed out to
see Road America. I've been there a few times, but this was Ned's first
trip to the place. RA is BIG. Compared to local tracks (Lime Rock and
NHIS), it's really big.

Back at the paddock, we helped Henry change tires to stickers and
installed new brake pads so he could bed them during the next practice. We
put a tag on the dash to remind Henry.

Henry thanked us later for the tag. Turns out that as he blasted out of
the paddock for the practice, he had NO PEDAL (no surprise there!) but the
reminder tag helped him realize what was going on before he bailed.

Pretty soon after we got our crew passes and camping thing taken care of,
we headed to turn 5 to watch the Group 1,3 practice. After only a few
laps, Henry wasn't circulating and more so we headed back to the paddock
to see what we could do.

The oil breather was white-foam. Argh - head gasket! Henry tried a
re-torque. On a subsequent session that fix proved inadequate and Henry
had to replace the head gasket. But we cleaned up as best we could and got
the car ready for the FRI am practice (brake change only - the scubs
stayed on).

Oh - the tranny was popping out of gear. Ernie H., Ned and Henry took
care of that with a spare. The motor was still pushing water, so Henry
took the head off in prep. for a new head gasket.

Somewhere in there, we haded out for track tours in the Saturn. Yee ha!
The FRI tours are fun 'cause there's quite a few less cars circulating. We
got at least 12 laps. Managed 80 through the kink at one point. Kewl.

FRI night was the MOTRAH cookout - lots of fun Ned and I walked the
Motorplex track - the site of the SAT autocross. Hmmm, there were a few
straights that were more then 150 feet. Should be some good speed in
sections. Kewl.
