Do you run foam air cleaners?
We had one fail in that it acted as a choke, sucking foam into the face of
the carb when running high rpm and pull away (back to normal) at lower rpm.
Similar running description you had.
The rattle is disturbing, sounds like a bearing on #3
Where did the water go? Any signs?
