comment, though, I think I'll be getting one myself to perch atop one of
the Team.Net
servers.
As many of you know I host many email lists, most involving old sports
cars of some
type or another. I haven't actually counted lately, but the last time I
did there were
something like 15,000 subscriptions all told. It takes a bit of my time
and I do it for
free, mostly, though I do solicit contributions now and again to cover
my expenses and
new hardware as needed to keep things going. Sometimes, like the AOL
block a few
months ago, it is quite a chore and I wonder why I bother.
This FOT list, however, is not a bother, but an honor. We're coming up
on the 13th
anniversary of this list, we've got almost 300 members. It has been a
few years since
I've had a Triumph on the track, almost a year since I've had one on the
street. But this
list helps me keep my enthusiasm going.
The offer of the trip to Portland this year is a good indicator of the
type of people on
this list. And the trip to Hallett for the 10th Anniversary was
another great example.
I remember back at Mid-Ohio in 2002 heading to the bleachers over there
north of the
paddock to catch the start of the Triumph feature race. Lots of Triumph
fans were
there, excited to be part of the event, everyone yakking away. When the
field came up
the hill to the turn ready to take the green, it got REAL quiet in the
stands. A moment
of life I will cherish forever.
Yep, I gotta get a little Triumph racer to adorn my office.
