Bob,

I run Dellorto 40's on my "warm" street Spitfire. I run 28m chokes, which
provide good low end punch but limit high end breathing. 30mm would let me
over-rev that 1500 engine that does not like high revs. I'm no carb guru -
but found them pretty easy to adjust for tuning. I have a good selection of
jets and tubes, and a large collection of written material about tuning.
So, if you decide to go with the Dells, let me know and I'll send copies of
all the document files. I'd also send my collection of brass so you can
test different main jets, idle jets and accelerator pump jets and their
assorted emulsion tubes. You could then replace what you use or destroy.
I've found there are some things to watch out for on the Dells - if you're
interested we can take it off the FOT list to avoid boring everyone else.

I used to buy the parts from Matt at Eurocarb, LTD. I see his company is now
called Dellorto Carburatori UK. Nice web site at
http://www.dellorto.co.uk/.

As Mark said, the Dells are almost the same as Weber DCOE carbs, but use
completely different jets and emulsion tubes. The Webers are a LOT easier
to get parts for, and there are more people that know how to tune/adjust the
Webers. People that like Dells will tell you they are better/more
adjustable. I don't have experience with the Webers that would allow me to
judge. I'd probably go with Webers if I was to start all over again - just
so much easier to get parts and advice.

All,
Looking for opinions on Dellorto 40 carbs. Properly set up are they big
enough for a mild race motor? Any parts sources here in the states? I know
of a set with manifold for sale.
