Took Evelyn's TR8 to the TRA meet this year. Part of it was some track time
at Summit Point. As the group of 50 or so cars headed out on track I pulled
off to let everybody go ahead so I could fall back and give er heck and have
some fun. Some more mature gentleman in a Mazda sport ute of some sort
motioned me in front so I could be with the rest of the Triumphs. I pulled
over and told him what my intentions were so he did not think I was having car
trouble when I slowed down on track. He smiled devilishly and remarked he
would try to not run me over. So off we go with me having a blast with a TR8
on skinny street tires with Evelyn screaming for me to slow down (I wasn't
going all that fast) all the while this older gentleman is right on my bumper.
Later in the day we get back to the host hotel and that guy came up to me in
the parking lot and said "hey that was fun wasn't it". Turns out it was
Robert Johns, one of the factory drivers in the day. I did not find out who it
was until after the event. How cool was that!
