Today I started developing a crank seal that don't need any change of the
crankshaft.
Only the aluminum ring has to be reworked on a lathe.
So it should be a simple conversion and should doing better than the current
market products.
I'm now staying in contact with several sealing ring manufacturers for the
developing and making of them.

I let you know how it turns out.

Cheers
Chris

Chris,

The rear seal is split, so it easily stretches to fit on the journal. The
spring then clips together on the journal, then you position it into the
groove in the seal. It is quite obvious once you look at the parts.

Uncle Jack liked to trim a little off the edge of the seal, to shorten the
overall length, so the seal will be tighter on the journal. For some time
the seals we were getting did benefit from this. I find the seals we now get
are the correct size, no trimming required.

Sorry, no photos, as I am on holiday in the UK.

Cheers.

Hi,

I have a question about the Landrover crank seal conversion for the TR4.
How is this splited seal moved over the rear mounting flange of the crank?
How to install the spring that will come with the ring?
Any photos available?

Cheers
Chris
