I have been using an Odyssey PC680MJT battery.  It is a dry cell, can be
mounted in any position, and is 15 pounds.  I run an alternator with this, but
have seen others use it without an alternator.  Before I used the alternator I
used the PC925MJT and ran just off the battery.  the 925 is about 26 pounds.
