To give an idea of the magnitude of the long rod  piston dwell near tdc....  I
have heard  that the 8 degrees crank angle btdc and 8 deg Atdc the piston
moves perhaps a few thousands.

Rumor has it That the piston travels so little -one may think the crankshaft
and piston are not really connected @ that sweet spot.
