Finally got an answer from SCCA to the question----why are engine vacuum
systems which connect to the exhaust system prohibited by SCCA? I didn't
present an argument in favor of the system in my original letter, but I did
say that I have seen them in use in cars raced in other series.

The official response is printed in the April issue of FasTrack which came out
today. It reads, in its entirety, as follows:

"Thank you for your request. There is no need shown for these systems and
they create a safety issue if they malfunction".

Does anyone think we can win this "argument"?
