All,

I'm looking for some guidance selecting new valve springs and setting
valve
spring pressures on a 64 Spitfire used for vintage racing.

Engine
info:
1147 + .040, block and head shaved per comp manual, compression about
12:1
Cam = Kastner A7, .412 lift,  duration 242 @ .050. stock rockers, tappets
2x SU HS2 carbs, large intake valves
Rev limiter set at 7200 RPM, shift at
6500-7000 RPM

British Parts Northwest provided the following specs on their
dual spring kits.

VS703K @1.340 Seat 70lbs, lift .412 175lbs

VS6624 @1.340
Seat 35lbs, lift .412 145lbs

I'm thinking the VS703K looks like a good
choice, and the VS6624 would be a bit
too light on seat pressure.

Thanks for
any insight.

Tim
