If your stock spring is indeed 150# and you think 180# might be good then a s=
olution might be to cut 1 or more coils out of your stock spring - depending=
 on how many active coils the stock spring has.

It's a linear change - i.e. If your stock spring has 8 total active coils an=
d you cut one off you are increasing the spring rate by 1/8th. Or 150 divide=
 by 8 =3D about 18 pounds. 150 + 18 =3D 168 - your new spring rate. You can c=
ut a partial coil also and the simple math will tell you the rate.

After cutting the spring you can heat the last couple of inches on the fresh=
ly cut end and collapse the end and grind it flat to be finished like the un=
cut end; called "closed and ground". If you are careful not to heat beyond t=
he inactive or flat part of the coil you will not damage the spring.

Perfectly legit way to lower a car.=20
