I have to offer another position here just in case....
I rebuilt my GT6 motor three years ago in a conservative manner on a limite=
d budget, 10:1 CR, GP1 cam, County pistons, stock rods and crank etc. had e=
verything magnafluxed, balanced and hardened and a good damper and aluminum=
 flywheel etc.I do OK, do not compete at the front, but have cars I can run=
 with.=C2=A0
I think there are two main questions, how deep are the pockets and how hard=
 will it be run? =C2=A0The harder you want to run the more you need to spen=
d in order to not take yourself out with a failure. My limited experience o=
n the pistons is it's the detonation that will kill them, so I watch the ti=
ming and fuel octane, don't let it run lean, and dyno'd to find optimum tim=
ing and carb jetting
All that said - that was me building for me, not someone else and Russ and =
Scott have very good points.

I've had a set of Venolia Pistons in my race GT6 for probably eight years. =
Just measured the skirt dimension against an unused spare- =C2=A0 0.6/1,000=
 of wear, max. =C2=A0They'll be going back in the engine again with new rin=
gs. My recollection is they are about $75 each.
My routine redline is 7,000 rpm.
