Bud,

A car wash high pressure sprayer is a good way to blow out the lines and I
made a tool to take that accusump apart you can use.

There is no good way to flush them while assembled. I like brake cleaner for
a final flush as it leaves no residue where mineral spirits will.

Subject: [Fot] Cleaining oil lines, and Spitfire Oil pump specs Questions

Listerati,

Some Spitfire 1300 engine re-assembly questions.

1) What to use to clean out oil lines, connections, and accusump after
having an engine disintegrate and create lots of metal particles that may or
may not have migrated throughout the oil system. I'm considering mineral
spirits as a final cleaning. They have been gravity draining for a couple
weeks hanging upside down. I also have a new oil cooler since that was
probably beyond cleaning effectively.

2) Procedure to clean the accusump. While it is out and not pressurized.
Just rinse it with mineral spirits?

3) Oil pump clearance specs on Spitfire (angled late 1500 version), now at
0.004" on all four lobes.

Thanks

Bud Rolofson
