Yes, they do.

Some use this spring to hold the friction plates together, others have a =
high load on it so that you have some locking without throttle power.

My TR4 has a friction plate LSD which acts like an open diff if you lift =
the wheels. You can turn each side independently.

As soon you give it some throttle power it starts locking. More power =
=3D harder locking.

The LSD on the TR8 Ford axle is called Yukon Posi.

It has some preload that 200 Nm can=E2=80=99t turn one side. But somehow =
I have the impress that the inside wheel does spin.

So I think a LSD with ramps would be a better choice.

If this is not available, maybe a worm gear LSD would do?
