Hi Steve =E2=80=93 Go to Goodparts (Richard Good) website and check out =
the complete setup that he offers for the TR3-4 engines. I have 2 =
complete sets one for each of my performance engines (10.5:1 and =
12.5:1). They are superb quality and absolutely bullet proof =E2=80=93 I =
have definitive proof to back this claim up but that=E2=80=99s for =
another discussion. Are they really worth the effort - there=E2=80=99s =
absolutely none, they bolt right in with no modifications. However you =
do have to use an alloy valve cover or purchase an aluminum spacer from =
him, to allow rocker arm clearance under the stock valve cover. Worth =
the price that=E2=80=99s hard to answer as I=E2=80=99m sure that you =
will get lots of opinions both for and against especially when you =
consider the use that we are putting our engines to and the amount of =
stress that we are subjecting the components to. Are roller rockers =
overkill ?????. For what it=E2=80=99s worth when I asked my machinist, =
whose business is building V8 push rod engines for oval and drag racing, =
for efficiency of operation and durability they=E2=80=99re the only way =
to go. Subjective I know but he showed me all the benefits on an drag =
engine under construction which made the decision really easy for me.

Benefits of the Goodparts kit:

- Rockers are constructed from high strength alloy with ball =
bearings in both the shaft end and the tip and available in 1.55 and =
1.65 ratios;

-        Rocker shaft hardened;

- Pedestals are high strength alloy and the end pedestals have an =
extension that supports both ends of the shaft with additional clamping =
at the ends;

If you decide to go with roller rockers I would recommend (heartily) =
that you purchase ARP pedestal studs with nuts and washers and, push =
rods from Smith Brothers. I can give you part numbers and specifications =
for both if you want them.

=20

I=E2=80=99m sure that your question will lead to an interesting string.

Barry.
