Many thanks to all of you for the kind words. Building and maintaining the
registry and using it for the benefit of the Healey community in general and of
BJ8 owners in particular has been fun for me, and has given me plenty to do to
keep me out of trouble in retirement. I have received immense satisfaction
from the positive benefits and unique service the registry has been able to
provide for specific owners over the last 19 years.

Although I enter the data and manage the registry, I certainly could never have
been able to capture information on 50% of total production by myself. I have
been very fortunate to acquire many e-mail friends around the world who believe
in the goals of the registry and support it by feeding me information on BJ8s
they come across and links to sales on the internet. There are far too many to
mention by name, and my sincere thanks and appreciation to all of them, but
some stand out and I would like to recognize them especially:

- Richard Vaughan, who has spent countless days of his own time researching for
me in the BMIHT archives for the last 15 years or so in order to document the
original build details of thousands of BJ8s that would otherwise have been
unavailable on a mass basis (and free!).

- Niels Bengaard for scanning the internet daily for 7 years and sending me
links, current and historical, and also for specific information about BJ8s in
his part of Scandinavia.

- Mell Ward, for sharing her UK 3000 registry with me (BJ8 portion, and minus
personal data, of course)

- Patrick Quinn for helping me to account for and keep up with all the BJ8s in
Australia.

- Mark Donaldson for covering the territory in New Zealand.

- George and Nathan Bennett for sharing their personal historical databases and
keeping me apprised of internet links.

- Iain Torrance for making sure that I am aware of BJ8 sales in the UK.

I agree Doug! Steve your work is greatly appreciated and hopefully more people
will share information with you and recognize the service you provide.
Congrats on reaching 50%! I am having beer to celebrate in the garage with my
BJ8 and she is having a quart of oil.!!!! We both just raised our drinks to
you!! Salute!!!

Len, I assume you are talking about Austin-Healeys since "Healey" for some
includes the pre-Austin Healey cars. Anyway, the last LHD BJ8 was 43020,
recently offered for sale on eBay. I have no information about 39418 in the
registry, but what you say is interesting. I'll have to add it to my list for
research.
The last by chassis number was 43026.
The last on the production line was 43000.
The last Metallic Golden Beige was 43025.
The last BRG was 43020.
The last Healey Blue was 43021.
The last Healey Blue/Ivory White was 43023.
The last Ivory White was 43026.
The last Colorado Red was 42971.
All cars from 42991 to 43020 were BRG.
The car with the latest shipping date from the factory (except for 43026) were
actually two: 38734 and 42758, on 19 Feb 68.

This seems like a good time to announce that the BJ8 Registry reached a
milestone today: we now have data, records, and history for exactly 50% of the
total BJ8 production (8,856 of 17,712). Hip, Hip, Hooray!

We could do better if more people would submit the details of their car to the
registry.

The notes that I have, source unknown, indicate that the last Healey was 39418.
I see that 43025 is right hand drive. Is it possible that 39418 was the last
left hand drive Healey?
