My 1960 TR-3A was shipped from the factory with the battery positive termin=
al as the ground.=C2=A0 When I restored the car many years ago, I switched =
it over to negative ground.=C2=A0 Someone had given me some instructions th=
at I followed, and it seemed to work.=C2=A0 About 2 years ago, I replaced t=
he battery and suspecting a charging problem, I also changed the generator =
and voltage regulator.=C2=A0 Since then, whenever I took the car on a long =
drive for a few days, the battery would run down.=C2=A0 I took my generator=
to an old electrical shop and he tested it on a bench test and said it was=
charging just fine.
I can't remember if I had polarized the new generator and voltage regulator=
when I replaced them.=C2=A0 So, I polarized them again, using some instruc=
tions I got from the Roadster Factory.=C2=A0 Now the ignition switch and am=
p gauge are backwards.=C2=A0 When the key is in the off position, the ignit=
ion light comes on and the engine will start and run.=C2=A0 When the key is=
in the on position, there is nothing.=C2=A0 When I started the engine, the=
amp gauge went negative.
Anyone have any idea what I could have done to get this switched around?=C2=
=A0 And, therefore, what I need to do to switch it back?
Thanks for your help.
