Fellow travelers,

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I now had a "clunk" sound whenever I
acclerated or declerated. You could also feel the "clunk" in the shift lever.
Originally I thought it was a bad spline so I checked the hubs and wheels and
no problem. Then I thought it was a bad transmission mount, so under I go and
play with the transmission, no bad mount problem. Then I thought it might be
the differential. That's about the level that my mechanical ability starts to
rapidly deteriorate, so off it goes to Steele Motors in Harrisburg. Kelby
finally diagnosed it as a tight, rusty universal joint. Just goes to show,
for me anyway, sometimes it pays to go to the pro.

While it was there he also fixed the overdrive switch because it wasn't
shifting into overdrive in 3rd gear but would in 4th. I didn't think it could
be the switch because the switch doesn't know what gear the car is in, does
it? Anyway, yet another problem where wiser heads prevailed.

Just F.Y.I. in case you start to get the same symptoms.
