The "output' worm gear/pinion was surrounded by solidified grease.
All clean now and the gears appear to be in first-class condition!

passages and casting apertures which are normally destroyed during removal.

I have rebuilt them many times and have never needed to replace the core pl=
ugs. They are dimpled in place and when you remove the dimple the core plug=
comes out and you just reinstall the core plug and dimple it back in. I al=
so have never worked on one that is seized. The angle drives I have rebuilt=
only needed to have the internal flexible cable replaced. I have used an o=
ld speedo cable and shape the ends to fit with a grinder.
